Inquiry about Apartments in Arilas and Holiday Insurance
ANNOUNCER: Section 1. You will hear a telephone conversatio
between a travel company employee and a customer. First, you have some time to look at questions 1 to 5. You will see that there is an example that has been done for you. On this occasion only, the conversation relating to this will be played first.
MAN: Greek Island Holidays. Can I help you?
WOMAN: Yes. A friend has just returned from Corfu and recommended some apartments in Arilas. I wondered if they are on your list.
MAN: Arilas... could you give me the names?
WOMAN: The first is Rose Garden Apartments. I'd like to travel in the last week of October with a friend.
MAN: We have a studio flat available then. There is also an entertainment program including Greek dancing in the restaurant.
ANNOUNCER: The entertainment program offers Greek dancing, so Greek dancing has been written in the space. Now we shall begin. Listen carefully and answer questions 1 to 5.
WOMAN: And how much would it cost?
MAN: It would be £219 per perso
.
WOMAN: That sounds reasonable. The second place was called Blue Bay.
MAN: Yes, that's very popular. Its main attraction is a large salt-water swimming pool.
MAN: It is also only 300 metres from the beach and about half a kilometre from shops.
WOMAN: Is it much more expensive?
MAN: At that time it costs about £275.
WOMAN: The next one might be called Sunshade Apartments.
MAN: Yes, they are located on a mountainside. Each room has a sun terrace and shared barbecue facilities.
MAN: They also offer water sports, including water skiing, and have satellite TV.
WOMAN: And the price?
MAN: £490 per perso
, with at least two people sharing.
WOMAN: That's outside our budget. The last one is called The Grand.
MAN: It's an older style house decorated with Greek paintings and each apartment has a balcony.
MAN: It is surrounded by forests, with a supermarket nearby, and there is also a disco in the area.
MAN: The price in October is £319, but in November it drops by 40%.
WOMAN: I'll visit your office in Upminster soon and collect a brochure.
ANNOUNCER: Before you hear the rest of the conversation, you have some time to look at questions 6 to 10. Now listen and answer questions 6 to 10.
WOMAN: Could I ask a few questions about holiday insurance?
MAN: Of course.
WOMAN: My current policy allows a claim of £8,000 if the holiday is cancelled.
MAN: Our policy allows up to £10,000 for cancellation.
MAN: If you are hospitalized, we cover up to £600.
MAN: We also cover the cost of a relative travelling to your resort.
MAN: For a missed departure, we pay up to £1,000.
MAN: For lost personal belongings, the maximum claim is £3,000, but no more than £500 per item.
WOMAN: Then I'd better not take my laptop unless I insure it separately.
MAN: My name is Ben Ludlow, the Assistant Manager. My direct number is 081260543216.
WOMAN: Thank you very much for your help.
ANNOUNCER: That is the end of Section 1. You now have half a minute to check your answers.
